CALL FOR ART – VALENTINE
The Gallery at Graphite Arts Center (Edmonds, WA) is seeking artwork for the upcoming pop-up exhibition ‘Valentine.’

About the exhibit

February is the month of love and sweethearts, and Graphite Arts Center is swooning to present the heart-felt,  pop-up exhibit Valentine, January 10 – February 15, 2025. We are seeking unframed, works on paper only (drawings, paintings, prints, collage, photographs).  Works should be on theme: “valentine.”  Minimum image size 6 x 6 inches.  Maximum image size 20 inches wide.  Maximum sheet (paper size) 24 inches wide.  There should be a minimum of 2 inches of paper around all edges of the image.  This pop-up exhibition will be shown in our art library space with works displayed on art panels. 

This is a juried exhibit with rules for submission and standards/guidelines for acceptance.  Not all submissions will necessarily be accepted.  Submissions will be juried based on quality, presentation, adherence to instructions of the call and how well the work fits with the overall vision of the exhibit.

About The Gallery at Graphite

Graphite Arts Center opened in 2022 in downtown Edmonds, WA.  Since opening Graphite has hosted 12 art exhibits in its 760 sq ft modern gallery space.  The aim of our gallery is to provide high quality arts experiences to our community.  Currently Graphite is open to the public Fridays 1-5PM, Saturdays 12-4PM and daily with access through Charcoal Restaurant.  Graphite is also open the third Thursday of the month for Art Walk Edmonds, 5-8PM.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Artwork 

Artwork must speak to the theme of the show “Valentine.” 

Works on paper only 

Any medium on paper may be entered (drawing, painting, print, collage, photo)

Images

JPEG files only

All works must be well-photographed 

Images should be sent oriented properly for viewing

JPEG files only

Images must be labeled: LAST NAME_TITLE  

Artist last name first on image file label is important i.e. Johnson_Tombstone.jpg;  

**Images and entry forms received by December 16 will be considered for use on promotional materials

Entry Fee

$15 fee for 1-2 works of art

Entry fee is required and is non-refundable

Fee must be paid at the time of application

Sales and Commission

All artwork must be for sale

All sales subject to 30% commission fee

Artist checks for any works sold will be mailed by November 15, 2024

Delivery and Return of Work

All accepted artwork must be delivered, ready to hang, on Wednesday, January 8, 11-3PM.  

Please do not enter if you (or a representative) cannot deliver your work to Graphite on this date at this time.
Please bring your works to the gallery flat in your own cardboard folder/portfolio 

We prefer if you are able to leave your cardboard portfolio with the art to protect it before hanging
Clearly label your portfolio on the outside with artist name

Include a clean, loose piece of paper on top of your work with artist name, title, medium, dimensions and price

All unsold works must be retrieved after the exhibition closes on Tuesday, March 4, 11-3PM.

Graphite has limited open hours and accommodating requests for alternate pick-up dates makes additional work for our staff and volunteers.

Presentation

For this pop-up exhibit only, works are not to be framed

We will be exhibiting loose sheet works on paper with a minimum of 2 inches blank paper around the image

We will be displaying these works on paper on our carpeted art display panels using pins and clips.

If  you do not wish for your work to be clipped directly (clips touching paper upper right and left corners), please do not enter your art

If you do not wish for your work to hang unglazed for the duration of this exhibit, please do not enter your art

All works on paper will be handled with care and attention and displayed in a safe environment

Works should look clean, finished and as professional as possible when dropped off

If you consent to these terms and would like to enter your artwork for consideration in Valentine please fill out the entry form below.

Have your titles, dimensions, prices and JPG photos ready when you fill out the form as well as credit card available for paying entry fee online.  

The artist, by submitting an entry form and images, consents for Graphite to use their name and images of art for promotional purposes, in print or online.
